Technical Sergeant Geoffrey G Torres

TSgt Geoffrey TorresTechnical Sergeant Geoffrey G. Torres, saxophone, is a native of Yukon, Oklahoma. He attended McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and studied saxophone with Stan Kenton Orchestra alumnus Rick Condit.  During his tenure at McNeese, Sergeant Torres was the winner of a university-wide concerto competition and was a featured soloist with the McNeese Jazz Ensemble at the Montreaux Jazz Festival in Switzerland.
Sergeant Torres has worked as a music teacher, bandleader, and sideman throughout Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Ohio.  He has performed with industry notables such as Bob Hope, crooner Andy Williams, latin trumpeter Arturo Sandoval, Yellowjackets saxophonist Bob Mintzer, Village Vanguard Jazz Orchestra pianist/composer Jim McNeely, and most recently 70’s pop icon Toni Tennile. Sergeant Torres enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1990 and has held band assignments at Keesler AFB, Mississippi; Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio; and Lackland AFB, Texas. Geoffrey, his wife, Jennifer, and their three children became part of The United States Air Force Academy Band in July 2003. Sergeant Torres is a saxophonist with the concert band and the Falconaires. He has been awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Air Force Achievement Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, and the Air Force Organizational Excellence and Outstanding Unit Awards.
